About Jen Rubin
I’m a natural science illustrator based in Easton, Connecticut, creating artwork inspired by the plants, insects, fish, birds, and wild landscapes of New England.
My illustrations combine scientific accuracy with a love of storytelling — celebrating the connections between native species and the ecosystems they belong to. I work primarily in Procreate using digital techniques that mirror traditional botanical illustration.
I’m currently earning my Natural Science Illustration Certificate through Yale’s Peabody Museum, where I focus on local ecology, pollinator species, and field observation.
Before my illustration career, I spent more than 20 years as a software director, a path that sharpened my sense for patterns — a skill I now bring into my artwork. Today, I create prints, cards, ornaments, fabrics, and educational artwork that help people slow down and reconnect with the natural world around them.
When I’m not drawing, you can find me exploring local woods with my family, photographing plants and wildlife, or developing new collections for my shops and design partners.
